Why Take a Private Boat to Formentera Instead of the Ferry?
The ferry from Ibiza to Formentera drops you at the main port — La Savina. From there, most people rent a bike or a car to reach Illetes, the legendary beach on the north of the island. By the time you arrive, the best spots are already taken.
A private boat from Ibiza to Formentera is a completely different experience. You cross the channel in 30 minutes from Marina Botafoch, and your captain anchors directly at Illetes — in the water, metres from the shore. You step off into knee-deep turquoise sea. No taxi, no queue, no crowds.
You spend the morning anchored at Illetes, swimming and snorkelling. We carry drinks, fresh towels, ice, and snorkelling gear on board as standard. If you want lunch, we can arrange a table at Juan y Andrea or Es Ministro — both legendary beach clubs reached by dinghy directly from the boat.
In the afternoon, your captain can take you to explore the southern coast of Formentera — Migjorn, Cala Saona, or back towards Ibiza through the S'Espalmador nature reserve — before returning to Marina Botafoch by 6:30 PM.
The Day, Step by Step
10:30 AM — Board at Marina Botafoch
Meet your captain at Marina Botafoch. Cold drinks are already waiting. We go through the safety briefing and the plan for the day.
11:00 AM — Cross to Formentera
30 minutes at sea. On a calm day, the channel is flat and the views of both islands are spectacular. Dolphins are occasionally spotted on this crossing.
11:30 AM — Anchor at Illetes
The captain anchors in the turquoise shallows. You swim, snorkel, paddle, or simply float. This is what you came for.
2:00 PM — Lunch
On board (catered), or at a beach club by dinghy — Juan y Andrea is 5 minutes away and worth the reservation.
3:30 PM — Explore the south coast
Migjorn, Cala Saona, or S'Espalmador — your captain picks the best option based on wind and conditions.
6:30 PM — Return to Ibiza
Back at Marina Botafoch. The rest of the evening is yours — you're 10 minutes from Ibiza Town.
